We Follow an Expert Floor Refinishing Process

Our owner, Adelio, takes pride in following a careful, attentive process when we bring floors back to life.

1. Clearing the space - We remove all your furniture and other belongings from the room, giving us an open space to work in.
2. Protecting your property - Your appliances, cabinets and any nearby furniture will be covered to protect them from dust and debris.
3. Precision sanding - To get a consistent and even surface, we start from the center of your floor with belt sanders and work our way to the perimeter, where we use edgers.
4. Detailing - We hand-scrape floor corners and other hard-to-reach spots.
5. Finer sanding - Once we thoroughly vacuum your floor, we go over it again with a fine-grit sander and edger to create a smoother surface.
6. Removing scratches and swirls - An orbital sander takes care of any remaining marks.
7. Staining or polyurethane prep - Your floors will be buffed with a fine-grit screen.
8. Thorough cleaning - Once again your floors are vacuumed to remove any remaining dirt and debris.
9. Enhancing the grain - If we're using dark stain, we first water-pop the floors to open up the wood grain, which allows for a more vibrant finish.
10. Staining - If you want a stain used, this is when we apply it and let it dry.
11. Protective coating - Polyurethane is applied, allowed to dry, and then applied again, with at least two coats and, ideally, three.
12. Curing time - Although you can walk on your floors relatively quickly, it's best to wait 48 hours before moving furniture back onto them and two weeks before placing any area rugs.
